will they come? At least thats what Im hoping by some miracle! I've always wanted to hold crops in my house - even just one friend who "gets" it like I do... but sadly the search is still on. I am however hoping that with my new room - it will all be here ready - if the chance shall ever arise. Im able to sit two in my new room - also able to set up a small folding table for a guest or two and I can have my scrap parties (I promise to provide the wine - even lots of it ;)!
Well as mentioned in yesterdays post - my room is here and ready. My wonderful fantastic hubby wanted to work on it last night - so oblige him I did and cleared it all out. He has one wall installed Oh it is soooo nice!! I am still a few weeks away until all of the details will be finished and I can use it - but its a start. I need to wait for a sample to decide between two different granite colours for my counters. Still can't decide if I want Oil Rubbed Bronze or Brushed Nickel for my hardware... and my glass inserts are still about 2 weeks off.... patients but again.... is a virtue...or thats what I'm told!
So before I bring you along on this ride of my new room I will start at the beginning... some of you may have seen my old room - which was a mishmash of stuff together. I never even dreamed (well maybe a little) that he would agree to doing this for me. Gosh I love my hubby....ok sorry enough mushy stuff...the Beginning.....
You can see photo's of my old room - and when I say old I think these were taken around 4 years ago...and an update posted a few years ago HERE (and yes the RAK is gone!)
This is what my room looked like on July 27th - one day after the flood that came about after a freak storm that overloaded the sewer systems here. The water started coming up right through the floor as the ground was saturated. Luckily I saved all of my supplies - but my furniture was gone - just soaked up all of the water and warped everything.
After weeks of dealing with the insurance and my hubby working every night the basement was rebuilt. We had to take out all of the baseboards - cut all of the drywall, repaint.....and my favourite part was replacing the floor. Why I ever went to a beige carpet I will never know - I wanted a warm look but even after only 2 years it ended up being a dirty look LOL! I never ever thought I would put ceramic down in a basement (very much not my style) but when I was searching for our new flooring for the entire basement I came across this and we decided yup thats it!
It was way over our budget - but I didn't want to go through this ever again if we were to have more water! It helps when you end up doing a kitchen for the Tile company owner....and having a hubby in the industry who can do the prep work! Hands down best decision EVER made in this house. I love the look - you CAN NOT tell it is ceramic - looks just like hardwood - and has already been tested thoroughly for cleaning by my teenage son and his friends.
So to continue my room looked like this for quite sometime...this was pretty much the time when I fell off of the face of the earth cause I had no where to scrap and no access to my supplies. The walls were redrywlled and I think this is just the same day that they repoured our concrete floor to get rid of cracks it had and to level it for the tile (you can see the floor is still wet) BTW I so miss my little Wall Art!!
From here I have a few photo's of my temp room that I have been working in for the last 6 months since this period. Still working out of containers and rubber maid bins - and that tiny little desk with my computer on it!
Check out the new colour of the walls? Do you like it - Im still not 100% sold on it - if I had my way I would change it now to a softer colour - but the painter has been paid and yup not throwing that money down the toilet. If I had to describe it to anyone - it is almost identical to the American Craft Green cloth albums - and yes that is what I based it on - cause of my Library of Memories colours...
So this is just all of my supplies that I work with constantly. The bins under the table are filled with my albums, blank mini albums. and yes I think a couple of them are filled with PP!! I know I have a lot of purging and sorting to do!!
And on the opposite wall is my computer desk
and of course my storage room is a DISASTER!!!!!! I still have all of this stuff to sort through and clean - and of course it is emberrasingly messy - but is remnants of the "what to do with this" stuff after the flood and mostly office stuff.
Just thinking about the work I need to do in sorting and purging makes me want to crawl back into bed and hide from all of the work! LOL!
Well my room is empty - except for my computer which I am now going to unplug and move. Dan completed the install of the boxes of the one wall last night...It isn't close to being done...but I will leave you with a sneak....one of my favourite parts of the room. My built in area for my Library of Memory drawers....
I'll update you later with part II The Now!
Have a great weekend everyone...and if your still with me here after this long post - thanks....I know I get visitors because of that little thing in my side bar - bur make sure you say Hi!! And if you live close and feel like cropping let me know!!

We're considering letting DD (15) move into basement bedroom, then I can have her room for scrapping. I would love a dedicated space. Oh and the green is perfect (my favourite colour :D). Anytime you want a guest, you can find me at Memory Keeper tues and thurs evenings
