Canadian Scrapbooker and a nice surprise...

I think I mentioned awhile back that I had a few layouts picked up for the Fall Issue of Canadian Scrapbooker while Attending Saskatchewan Scraps back in March of this year.  I was honoured to have Jackie (owner/publisher) herself pick out 2 of my layouts to include in the Kraft Section that they were featuring.  I wish I could show you them...but you know what...I didn't even get a chance to photograph them before handing them over...so until I get them back and get my computer up and running I can just tell you tell you that they are on page 44 and 47 of the fall issue under the Kraft Basics.  Hope you enjoy them.

I was previously surprised when Jackie asked me if I would like to try out for the cover of the fall issue.  How excited was I at that opportunity.  Unfortunately I didn't make the cover but I was one of the "Other Takes" and was thrilled to see my layout with everyone Else's included in this issue as well.  This is the cover for the fall issue....and I do love the layout....another one of the "why didn't I think of that moments! LOL!

...and here is my take on the cover....don't know what I was thinking with the white background but its really been my obsession lately - and I wanted to stay true to my style. I found it really difficult with the 8 1/2 x 11 format...never scrapped that size before so it was challenging but all in all I am happy with how it turned out...after the 4rth or 5th attempt LOL!!

And last but certainly not least - quite a while back my fellow Just Cre8 Crew member Leica Forrest (who was the author for the Kraft Article that my two layouts were in) asked me to send in a third layout to Canadian Scrapbooker.  I just assumed it was for the kraft section again as that is what the background paper was. I wasn't positive if they were going to use all of my layouts but I sent it in anyway and kept my fingers crossed. 

So last week I come home and pick up my mail and I find this in my mail box.  Canadian Scrapbooker Basics Volume 3...

 

Well that was a nice surprise but I was thinking ...hmmm...I wonder why I received this...I just assumed that it was part of my gift package for trying out for the cover.  Later that night I sat down with my cup of tea...and started looking through it...from cover to cover...like I do with every scrappy mag I get...and almost spit my tea across the room when I saw this on a full page!!...

UHM....Now that was a NICE SURPRISE.  It is on Page 47 in the Acrylic section and I was so happy to be in this great special edition published by CS.  Thank you Leica and Jackie.  I must however remember to ask where my layouts are going next time...or maybe not... because the surprise was very nice!!

Mixed Scrapping News

While lately I have been a bit overwhelmed by my monthly commitments...I certainly did not want this to happen.  I received a call from Sue on Sunday and she shared her decision with me that Just Cre8 is no longer offering kits after this month....sigh.  I was shocked but very supportive of her decision to look after her family first and I wish her nothing but the best in the future and what ever lies ahead. At first the news I took in stride and then it hit me....I went and told my DH and I just started crying...I have hung my hat here since Just Cre8 started and I loved being part of the team and all of the wonderful friends I made are certainly going to leave a huge hole in my heart.  Not to mention the wonder-full kit I got to create with every month!

Everything happens for a reason....and I truely believe that when one door closes another opens.  On to a new chapter of my scrapbooking and online life...it will be hard though to not have my "layouts due" and will be scrapping for myself for a bit.

I also got some not so great news the other day...I was asked to a layout for the cover of Canadian Scrapbooker but another layout was picked instead...so 2 bad scrappy things in one week...they say they come in threes...I'm glad I am going away next week LOL!!

NOW...some great news....

I do have 3 or more layouts being pubbed in the next issue of Cdn Scrapbooker...and you have to go over to Just Cre8 and check out the amazing work of my fellow teammates with this months kit.  They are all so talented...Im sure that it won't be long before they are designing for someone else with the talent they all have!

AND have you checked out the Collage Press Blog for Designer Days!!!! Uhmmm...all I can say is OH MY FREAKING WOW!!! I truly am so lucky to be on this amazing team.  I am absolutely dumbfounded with the talent of my teammates...there talent is incredible - every time I look at their work I just say to myself WHY DIDN'T'T I THINK OF THAT!!

Oh! The Places You'll Go!

As school is officially out here for the summer I had the joy of watching my oldest son graduate from Elementary School (Grade 8) and become excited for all of the new changes and possibilities that he will encounter in High School next year.  I have always been active on our School's Council - and finally one of my children got to receive "Oh The places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss which is given to each graduate as a traditional gift.  I wanted to make sure I captured this moment and this photo is of my son right after his book was handed to him at Graduation.  I love the expression on his face - but most of all I was shocked to look at this photo and see a fine young man emerging from the child I am used to. 

Journalling is taken from part of the book and is my favourite verse - It reads:

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.
